Flower Mound Termite Control, Flower Mound Termite Treatment

I know it's a little early to be talking about Termites but Spring is just around the corner. I've put a couple of things together to keep in mind if you think you have an issue.

  • Whatever you do, don't panic. While Termites can cause devastating damage if left unchecked, you're most likely looking at only cosmetic damage to your home.
  • If you're having a swarm try and save a few in a jar for the inspector to look at. Do you know when you take your car to be repaired and all of a sudden that noise you were hearing is non-existent? The same thing happens to Pest Control Operators. Usually by the time someone gets to your home all the bugs have vanished. By saving a few swarmers you eliminate the possibility of a Termite Inspector diagnosing the wrong issue.
  • Call at least two different companies and make sure they agree on what the insect is. Unfortunately, this industry has a lot of people who prey on homeowners and are looking to make a fast buck. Don't ever feel like this is something that needs to be addressed immediately (see above) and can't wait for a second opinion. While it is important to treat the insects there is always enough time to get another opinion.
  • Last but not least, make sure you understand what your warranty covers. Some companies claim to cover New Termite Damage but only what is visible at the time of treatment. While that sounds good keep in mind that almost 95% of your home is enclosed with sheet rock, flooring, furniture, etc. This means that you will have a difficult time proving what is old damage compared to new damage.
